Working with clients with such different collections means our day-to-day life can vary quite a bit. We thought it would be fun to take you through what our week might look like.
Often, we are behind our computers emailing shippers, updating inventories or reading through sale contracts. At other times we’re traveling to view a client’s collection or meet conservators. What follows is a taste of a typical week for us.
Monday...
We start the day early by waking up and checking emails. Often replies from contacts in New York and LA have come in overnight.
Emails and meetings take up most of the morning. This includes, coordinating installation dates for several works shipping to Israel, reviewing sale terms for a client’s artwork being offered at auction and writing to the board of an artist’s foundation with the details and history of an artwork for ‘authentication’.
In the afternoon, it’s off to a client’s house in West London to oversee the installation of several artworks. Safety, lighting, position and harmony with the rest of the collection all need to be considered.
On the way home, time is spent reviewing proposals from different auction houses for a sale.
